Student-Led Conference 2026: When Dars Students Take the Lead
From September 22–23, 2026, Darsyafii Islamic School held its Student-Led Conference (SLC) for Early Years and Primary School students. The conference provided an opportunity for students to take an active role in presenting their learning journey to their parents, while strengthening collaboration between the school and family.
Rather than focusing only on academic results, the SLC invited students to share their learning process, including their projects, achievements, challenges, and personal goals. Through this experience, students were encouraged to reflect on what they had learned and communicate their progress with greater ownership and confidence.
Learning Through Reflection and Communication
During the SLC, students presented selected aspects of their learning journey directly to their parents. They shared their work, explained the process behind their projects, reflected on areas they had developed, and identified goals for their next steps.
This process gives students an opportunity to look beyond the final result and recognize the effort, thinking, and learning that take place along the way.
Presenting their own learning also encourages students to take greater responsibility for their education. They learn to articulate what they know, recognize areas they can improve, and communicate their ideas clearly.
The SLC experience was adapted to the learning needs and structure of each school level.
Early Years: Exploring Learning Through Different Stations
For Early Years students, the SLC was organized through several learning stations. Students and their parents moved through different stations representing the subjects and learning experiences they had explored throughout the term.
The stations included: Math, English, Adab, Qur'an, Physical Education (PE), and Free Exploration (STEAM Showcase).
At each station, students presented aspects of their academic progress, learning projects, Qur'an memorization, and personal goals. Parents participated through conversations and question-and-answer sessions, allowing them to engage directly with their children's learning.
At PE station parents and students took part in challenges together, working as a team to complete the activities. Through these challenges, they practiced coordination, communication, and mutual support, creating an opportunity for children and parents to experience teamwork beyond the classroom.
The Free Exploration station also provided an opportunity for students to showcase their STEAM learning and exploration, giving parents a glimpse into how children investigate ideas, create, and learn through hands-on experiences.
Primary School: Presenting the Learning Journey
For Primary School students, the SLC took place in their respective classrooms. Students presented their learning journey directly to their parents, sharing their work, experiences, reflections, and goals.
Parents were actively involved throughout the session by listening, asking questions, and engaging in conversations about their children's learning and development.
This format allowed each student to take greater ownership of the conversation and communicate their experiences in their own words.
Strengthening the Collaboration Between School and Family
At Darsyafii, learning is supported through the collaboration of the family, school, and community. The SLC brings these relationships together by giving students an active role in sharing their learning journey, while inviting parents to listen, ask questions, and understand their children’s progress more closely. Through this shared experience, students practice communication, reflection, and responsibility for their own learning—taking steps toward becoming Problem Solvers and Builders who think, communicate, reflect, and grow while remaining grounded in faith and character.
